WOW...WHAT A WEEK!        HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING OK AND MAKING THE BEST OF EVERYDAY....OFTEN PREACHED, BUT SELDOM DONE....JUST DO IT!           A SINCERE BEST OF LUCK AND A HUGE HEARTFELT THANKS TO  THOSE WHO ARE NO LONGER WITH US AT THE OLE RADIO STATION....I WILL MISS YOU GUYS..AND GIRLS..              


HOW MANY STILL HAVE A BRACKET SHEET OR TWO STILL ALIVE??        THIS SPORTS DIRECTOR STILL HAS HIS FINAL FOUR LEFT....BUT WAY, WAY TO MANY BLEMISHES ALONG THE WAY TO REAP ANY BIG REWARDS...DAMMIT!!                OH, I FORGOT, ITS FOR ENTERTAIMENT PURPOSES ONLY....   LOL


THE INDIANS SAID GOOBYE TO WINTERHAVEN FOR THE FINAL TIME ON THURSDAY NIGHT....MUST ADMIT I'M A LITTLE SAD....I KINDA LIKED THE OLD PLACE....IT NEEDED SOME TLC, BUT...IT WAS WHAT SPRING TRAINING WAS ALL ABOUT...  SOOO LONG CHAIN O'LAKES...     OPENING DAY IS ONLY A FEW DAYS AWAY!!!!  GO TRIBE!!         SPEAKING OF, HOW MANY IDIOTS IN MLB DOES IT TAKE TO CONTINUALLY SCHEDULE GAMES ON THE EAST COAST IN MARCH AND APRIL??    I KNOW, I KNOW, I KNOW.....QUIT CRYING..     I CAN HEAR TOM HAMILTON NOW...    "GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYBODY AND WELCOME TO PROGRESSIVE FIELD (PUKE), TODAY THE CLEVELAND INDIANS OPEN UP THE 2008 SEASON AGAINST THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX"    " AND A BIG THANK YOU TO THE FEW HUNDRED HEARTY SOULS WHO BRAVED THE BLIZZARD WARNINGS AND NEAR RECORD SNOWFALL TO GET HERE...TODAY'S GAME IS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE"      HOWWWW ABOUT THAT!!!!        THANKS BUD, YOU DUMB***!

 Joe B passed away this past Thursday night..  Joe B, known to many of you as Joe Bourquin... He was Uncle Joe to me...  The man who I think the entire town of Louisville knew, and maybe all of Stark County as well, died at the age of 69..   If you would have seen him up until a few weeks ago he could have passed for 50 without a doubt.     His love of life, family, the ex- newsboys and sports made him the man that he was....he had a great smile, the most outgoing personality, and a laugh that I will never forget.   I can recall many fond moments, from family reunions, holidays, fun conversations on Market avenue during any kind of downtown festival, and plenty of friday nights cheering on his sons inside the walls of Louisville Stadium.    

Joe B was much more than that....   he was there for me when my parents both passed away within an 18 month period ...I was in my early 20's at the time...   unfortunatley, cancer has reared its ugly head within the family, and after fighting for many years, Joe B went home to rest with others that were taken along the way...much, much too soon.   

Uncle Joe was a huge sports fan...  all you had to do was drive down good old Edmar street and check out all the indians, browns, cavs, buckeys, and leopards signs and decorations...he loved his teams...through good times and bad....just like a true fan would..   The last time we talked was in the lobby of WHBC...we talked about a lot of things...the tribe getting ready to go to winterhaven, the ex-newsies associaton, and how I was doing at the place on 6th and Market...   he looked fantastic...and was in good spirits too...   but, he knew...I think he willed his way for quite awhile...he was stronger that what was attcking him...he was going to be as strong as ever...

We ended our visit just like we always did....with a big bear hug and a kiss on the cheek....I watched him walk away, down the sidewalk....for me..it was the last time I would see Joe B...Joe Bourquin....my Uncle Joe..

   It was nice to see the Cavs but a whoopin on the Pistons last night at the "Q"..  Lebron needs only 5 more points to become the Cavs all time leading scorer in franchise history...wow!!!    he is going to shatter every Cavalier record by the time all is said and done....we dont realize how lucky we are to be able to watch Lebron in a Cleveland uniform...

The first day of spring is here...and now its time for area baseball and softball coaches to figure out how to play their scheduled games with all of the snow and rain coming down....frustrating no doubt...during my high school career from 84-88 we played games in snow, ice, wind, rain, mud, you name it...  before one home game our coach lit our field on fire in order for us to play!!!       where there's a will there's a way baby!      we were a pretty resourceful bunch...for one away game, because there was no bus to get us there, all 17 of us piled in the back of our designated hitter's pickup truck....we made it..barley alive...

March Madness is here!!!     go Flashes!!!      and opening day is gettin closer!!!

I cant wait for the ncaa tournament to get cranked up!!    my my brackets are filled out, i'm in a few office pools, and i'm ready to go!!!   $$$$$$$$$       now, back to reality...        work..    wait a minute...there are 16 games thursday and 16 games on friday...work??   are u kidding me??    not me...not no way..not no how!!

Big congrats to the buckeys and zips for winning their first round nit games...keep it going fellas...   good luck to kent state as well!!    hmmmm..i wonder how many people will actually play hooky the next few days??   i would love to hear some of the excuses that will be used..classic!    

Is anybody else getting a case of cabin fever??     it's been a little tough trying to catch the extra hour of sunlight with no sunshine..    better days ahead...i hope!

 Hope everybody had a great weekend!!   it flew by for me...a little basketball, a little arena football, a few libations,a little wagering... good stuff...      before i forget, i want to congratulate my football announcing partner, joe palmisano, for recently being inducted in the akron hoban high school athletic hall of fame....way to go joepa!!!

I had the honor of being the guest speaker at the pro football hall of fame on monday...wow...what a treat that was...a big thanks to everyone for making me feel so welcome...it'a day that i will never forget!

Just got done watching the cavs dribble down their leg against orlando..turnovers, taking dumb shots, and noooo defense on the perimeter...looks like a number four seed for the wine and gold...caught a few glimpses of tiger woods sittin court side at the orlando arena...i thought after he high fived lebron that things would work out a little better for the cavs...guess not

Just 15 more days till the indians hope opener!!!

Now this is the kind of wather i'm talkin about!!       anytime the ole temp rises above 35 its time to break out the shorts..     beautiful..   Nice effort by the cavs last night...giving up 38 points in the first quarter is hard to fathom..  better get it together...beginning tonight...


How many times have you had ur workout bag all packed and then never made it to the gym??  that was me yesterday..  pathetic...we'll try it again later today...    better do more than try, since i ate the two dougnuts that were in my office drawer when i arrived at work this morning..                 will power..please!!!           speaking of.....does pro golfer john daly have any at all??     the idoit missed a pro-am event prior to an arnold palmer event and got kicked off the course.       what a talent, but all he wants to do  is get all boozed up everyday and smoke those nicotine sticks..     tiger, u rule!!

Now if chris would take down the rolling stone cover shot of fergie off  the damn sports office wall, i could get some work done around here!

   Hey everybody!!      Thought it was about time for the computer challenged sports guy to get into the whole blogging thing...must admit i reead a lot of them out there, but never really thought i had anything THAT INTERESTING TO SAY!     guess thats up to YOU!

I guess im happy to be back in the big "C" after a week in winter haven...well...the weather was great down there...and it sucks up here...ive had my share of airports and rental cars for awhile..try keepin up in fla on I-4 with a 4cylander hundai...  mopeds have more pickup!    big congrats to timken and malvern hoopsters....come back strong next year fellas..      how do ya like these @$$^*^%$$#! gas prices??    what a joke!...nice job mr pres and your boy dicky chaney...can someone haul me around till i put my ten-speed back together??    

Lots of great things happenig in sports!!   the cavs..march madness, and the kentucky derby in right around the corner...we'll keep ya coverer on WHBC!!!     good luck to the canton legends this saturday night...kickoff of the season opener is 7:05pm...i'll be doing the PA announcing again this year...hope to see you there!!

Time for lunch and a trip to the mall...i'll be the guy hitchhiking on 77 north.....
